.379 caliber (about 85 Bore) 5 7/16" rifled octagonal barrel. 6-shot, double action "transitional" revolver, with blued barrel and frame, color case hardened cylinder and hammer. Top barrel flat engraved IMPROVED REVOLVING PISTOL, bottom of barrel with Birmingham commercial proof marks. Chambers numbered 1 to 6 with proof marks between each one. Frame and butt cap lightly engraved with loose floral motifs. Checkered wood grips. In period case with black baize lining and associated accessories including combination bullet mold/loading tool marked "88", combination L-shaped cone wrench/screwdriver, faceted copper flask, percussion cap tin, lead ball.
Condition:
Fine overall, retaining most of the period blue on the barrel, less on frame and a significant amount of vivid case color on the cylinder and hammer. Revolver is mechanically functional with a fine bore. Housed in period mahogany case that was relined and possibly reworked for this pistol. Accessories are all about good, cone wrench appears to be a high quality reproduction.
