Sixth plate daguerreotype of a married or engaged couple, half case; a second sixth plate daguerreotype of a middle-aged couple with gold hand tinting, uncased; a sixth plate daguerreotype of a couple, with some gold hand tinting, housed in half case; a sixth plate ambrotype of a seated couple, housed in full case; 2 ninth plate daguerreotypes of a man and woman, each housed in an oval push-button case; 2 ninth plate ambrotypes of a woman and young man housed in the same case, each mat stamped by photographer J. Sydney Miller, Nashua, NH.
According to Craig's Daguerreian Registry, "In 1856 [James Sydney Miller] noted many years experience at his gallery near the Lowell Depot, Main Street. He boarded at 72 West Hollis, and was probably connected with Henry J. Miller in business. In 1857-1858 he boarded at the same address, and was listed as an ambrotypist, with no business address. He was probably in the firm of Miller and Merrill, daguerreians, over the Post" (http://craigcamera.com/dag/).
The sixth plate ambroype has some flaking of the enamel the rest are in good condition, one seated portrait has minor solarization around the corners.
