Approximately .75 caliber bore flaring to a 3" wide elliptical muzzle. 22.5" octagonal-to-round iron barrel with baluster-turned rings at transition. Deeply stamped maker's mark and trademark on top of breech flat with gold-washed highlights. Unmarked flat iron lock with flat gooseneck cock and iron pan. Top of muzzle engraved with cloud and rising sun motif. Engraved brass mounts, including finger rest trigger guard and buttplate. Padded leather cheek rest on comb of stock, sling swivels and metal ramrod.
Condition:
Very good overall. Metal with a medium silvery patina and peppered darker age staining, as well as some lightly scattered surface oxidation at the breech. Bore is dark and dirty with light pitting. Wood is crisp with minor handling marks and dings. Head of rear lock mounting screw is broken. Leather cheek rest with scuffing and wear but appears to be from the period of use.
