Italian Brass Barrel Flintlock Blunderbuss

1.75" bore at muzzle, 18.25" two-stage brass barrel with iron tang, an octagonal breech and baluster-turned rings at the transition from round barrel to flared muzzle. Iron musket-sized lock with pointed tail, reinforced rounded cock and brass pan, marked FABBAR / TORINO forward of hammer. All screw heads numbered "2". Brass finger-groove trigger guard, buttplate, side plate ramrod thimble and entry pipe. Walnut stock, trumpet-shaped iron ramrod.

 

Condition:

Very good to fine. All markings remain crisp and clear in both metal and wood. Brass barrel and furniture with a deep ocher patina, iron lock with brown age staining and some dried old grease. Lock mechanically functional. Stock crisp with inspection marks on flat, sharp lines and edges. A minor chip is missing on the reverse at the nose and a minor crack is present at the leading edge of the obverse fore end along the stock to barrel joint.
