Silver gelatin photograph, produced by photographer Fred Payne Clatworthy. His signature is included lower left, although we cannot confirm whether it is original or printed. With Clatworthy's hand stamp on back of photograph. With descriptive label affixed to frame backing of the "Two Johnnies," John Burroughs and John Muir. 13 x 10 in. (sight), framed, 18 x 15 in. overall. A fine photo capturing American naturalist, John Burroughs, age 72, and Scottish American Geologist John Muir, age 70, taken in Yosemite by Clatworthy, who had the opportunity to spend a week with the men at the park in May, 1909. On the trail to Nevada Falls, the "Two Johnnies" rested for a few minutes at the base of a baby redwood tree.
