Marlin-Ballard No. 7 A-1 Extra Long Range Rifle

.44-100 everlasting caliber, 34" Rigby barrel, S/N 3409. With matching numbers throughout. Rigby barrel with engraved muzzle and ridges at the breech. The left side of the frame is marked with the Marlin name and address, and Ballard's patent date. The top of the frame and the sides feature detailed vine scroll engravings. The right side of the frame also features an engraved charging bison, with the left side having an engraved buck and doe. With windgauge and spirit level front sight, and long range Vernier tang peep sight. There is also an additional sight mount on the toe of the butt. The forearm features deluxe checkering and a tapered horn forend cap. With deluxe grain Creedmoor style checkered pistol grip stock with horn wedge. With checkered horn buttplate.

J.J. Grant is stamped on the underside of the barrel, and on the rear of the butt, beneath the buttplate. This very rifle appears on the cover of Single Shot Rifles, by James J. Grant.



The barrel retains almost all of its original blue finish. The frame displays very good to excellent case colors, with crisp engravings. The stock and forearm are excellent, with very slight handling marks only on the forearm. The bore is excellent. The bore and action are excellent.
