Lot of 5 sixth plate daguerreotypes, featuring: 

Portrait of a young man, housed under early mat, in full case, accompanied by inscribed paper label that reads, Taken by L.C. Champney, May 1843. As per Craig's Daguerreian Registry, Champney was "An itinerant daguerreian in Vermont and Massachusetts from 1842 to 1844, he learned the process from A.S. Southworth."

Attractive portrait of a young girl wearing plaid dress, with Dinmore, Phila. stamp on mat. Housed in half case. Light tarnish ring along perimeter where plate meets mat. 

Portrait of a young man, mat stamped by M.P. Simons, who operated studios in both Philadelphia, PA, and Richmond, VA, during his career. Housed in half case with ring attached at top, for hanging. With few spots on plate, unusual stain-like effect along lower portion of plate. 

Plus 2 early daguerreotype portraits (based on style of mat), including a view of a young man in an unusual studio setting, and a portrait of two young, attractive women, each housed in full cases. 



All are in good condition overall, with some light wear.
